Rayleigh Brass has been established in Rayleigh for over 80 years and currently rehearses at Battlesbridge Free Church. We are a traditional style British Brass Band consisting of mainly amateur brass and percussion players. The Band is non-
Pete Bearman in action as a Rayleigh Brass solo cornetist
The training band is coached and conducted by Pete Bearman with help from other members of the senior band.
Membership of the training band is open to all and we welcome players of any standard.
The fees are £15 per term and for this we provide coaching and band experience. Music is provided and we have some instruments available for loan. (competitive purchase and rental rates are also available through our discount facilities at Benfleet Music)
If you wish to join or just find out more please come to a rehearsal or call either Kevin or Keith who will be happy to provide further information or answer any questions you may have.
In 1995 a training band was formed to provide facilities for those who wish to learn to play and also to accommodate players who wished to take up an instrument again after a lapse of playing. (There is no upper or lower age limit for entry to the training band.)
Several players in the current senior band were originally members of the training band and there are procedures for progression to the senior band and for "sitting in".
The training band rehearses as a band once a week, on a Thursday evening at 7pm, at Battlesbridge Free Church, and there is also separate tuition for beginners and those who wish to practise in a smaller group.
