| Rayleigh Brass has been
established in Rayleigh for over 80 years and currently rehearses
at Battlesbridge Free Church.
We are a traditional style British Brass
Band consisting of mainly amateur brass and percussion players.
The Band is non-contesting but concentrates on concert
performances with a varied repertoire played to a high
standard. The repertoire of the Band is very wide and ranges
from the classics through to modern popular music.
In 1995 a training band was formed to
provide facilities for those who wish to learn to play and also to
accommodate players who wished to take up an instrument again
after a lapse of playing. (There is no upper or lower age
limit for entry to the training band.)
Several players in the current senior
band were originally members of the training band and there are
procedures for progression to the senior band and for
"sitting in".
The training band rehearses as a band
once a week, on a Thursday evening at 7pm, at Battlesbridge
Free Church, and there is also separate tuition for beginners and those who wish to practise in a smaller group.
